On an episode of a recent airing of an old television western, a young man was brutally beaten by a ruthless wealthy businessman. The young man was simply standing up for an elderly sickly woman whose land was about to be taken, out of greed, by the businessman. When it seemed like all hope was loss and the young man was physically defeated, help arrived right on time. The young man’s father, along with his brothers came to his rescue. Recognized upon his arrival as also being a businessman, the ruthless man stated how much it was a pleasure to finally meet the man that he had heard so much about in the business world. The ruthless businessman went on to explain that they were in a business transaction that went wrong, and was sure that he would understand the need of force in the situation. The father of the young man turned around and said, “oh, but you don’t understand, this is my son you have just beaten”!

What an example of the love that our Heavenly Father has for all who will allow Him to be their Father. Unlike the young man’s earthly father who spent days looking for his son, our Heaven Father is always present and knows exactly where his children are and what they are facing. His Word states in Deuteronomy 31:6 that the Lord God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you (NIV). Isn’t it encouraging to know that even when we find ourselves in hostile situations and places, God knows it and He is right there with us?
Even better still, is the assurance that our Heavenly Father is able to rescue and deliver us out of every situation. Like the earthly father who arrived right at the right moment, our God is never late and will step in to defend His children at the right moment. He stands ready to protect and fight every one of our battles if only we would release our concerns, cares and problems to Him. I Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all anxieties on Him because He cares for us (NIV). We do not have to go around feeling and being defeated because we have a God whose very nature is of a loving and caring Father.
Whatever you may find yourself up against, turn it over to God and trust Him. What is fighting you? Let go and let God fight for you. God is for you, not against you and He has everything you need to overcome every adversity (Romans 8:31-32). Just as the young man’s father dealt with the ruthless businessman, our Heavenly Father has dealt with satan through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. God is on your side, fighting for you saying, “This is My Son, this is My Daughter”.
